Frequently Asked Questions
-
Where do the tours start from?History tours start from Savannah's first square, Johnson Square. Johnson Square is located at the intersection of Bull St & Saint Julian St (also the intersections of Bull St & Congress St, and Bull St & Bryan St). Johnson Square is also our largest square and a common meeting place for tours, so we try to gather everyone at the eastern fountain, closest to the First Christ Church. Rising Voices tours start from Franklin Square, at the intersection of Mongomery St & W. St. Julian St. We gather in front of the Haitian Monument in the center of the square. Botanical tours start from Columbia Square, at the intersection of Habersham St & E. President St. We gather around the fountain in the center of the square. Private tours can start from any historic district location convenient to you.
-
When should I arrive before tour, and what if I'm late?We ask that you arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of tour to meet the tour guide and check in. If you are running late, you can call us at (912) 521-7022 for assistance or rescheduling. Our tour guides will wait for late arrivals for 5 minutes past the scheduled starting time.
-
Where do the tours end at?The end point of the tour can vary based on a variety of factors: the interests of the group, the walking speed of the group, and possible road/square closures just to name a few. However, we aim to end general History tours and Ghost tours in Wright Square, which is one square away from where you started. Rising Voices tours typically end in Monterey Square, and Botanical tours typically end in Madison Square. Your tour guide will always be able to direct you back to our starting point or your car, and on occasion may be available to walk you back. We can also call a bicycle cab to carry you back to your car or anywhere else in the historic district.
-
Where can I park?Street parking is available throughout the historic district, but is in high demand and may take you longer to find a parking spot between March and September, especially on weekends. If you plan on parking at a meter, we recommend downloading the ParkSavannah app, which will warn you before your time expires and will allow you to refill the meter remotely. Three parking garages are available directly beside our main starting location at Johnson Square: Bryan St Parking Garage @ 100 E Bryan St Congress St Parking Garage @ 115 E Congress St Whitaker St Parking Garage @ 7 Whitaker St Three more parking garages are less than a 10-minute walk away: Robinson Parking Garage @ 132 Montgomery St (closest to the start of Rising Voices tours) State St Parking Garage @ 100 E State St (closest to the start of Botanical tours) Lincoln Parking Garage @ 20 Lincoln St We do not validate parking.
-
What should I bring?Wear comfortable walking shoes. (Definitely DO NOT wear high heels.) If rain is on the forcast (which is every day in the summer), bring an umbrella. You may want to bring water or another refreshing beverage (in Savannah this can include alcohol as long as it is in a cup). A camera or camera-phone is probably a good idea as well.
-
Should I tip the tour guide?Tips are never required. However, if you enjoyed the tour, tipping is greatly appreciated. Our tour guides work hard to provide you with a high quality tour, and anticipate tips as part of their income. Most guides should have apps like CashApp, Venmo, Paypal, or Zelle on their phones as a cashless option. If you do ever feel that the tour did not exceed your expectations, we would love for you contact us with your concerns.
-
Are pets welcome on tour?Yes! We would love to have any well-behaved pet along on tour! Please keep in mind the following: - Savannah requires all pets within the city to be leashed - Savannah requires all pet waste to be picked up and disposed of (so please bring baggies) - Savannah pavement gets hot in the summer; your pet may need protection for their feet - Many Savannah shops put out water bowls for dogs, but you may want to also bring water for them just in case
-
What is your cancellation policy for weather? While our tours do operate in rainy weather, we typically cancel for more extreme weather conditions, such as: - severe thunderstorm warnings - tornados or hurricanes - heat advisories If we cancel a tour due to weather, you are entitled to a full refund, or can choose to take a raincheck for another day you are available.
-
What is your refund policy?Cancellations of more than 24 hours before the start of your tour are entitled to a full refund or credit. Customers will also receive a full refund or credit in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Cancellations less than 24 hours before tour are entitled to a credit. Once the tour starts, no-shows will be charged full price, not issued a refund or credit. Contact us by phone or email to cancel or inquire about a cancellation.
-
Will there be restroom breaks on tour?Once we start tour, we are at the mercy of private businesses for restroom access; therefor we recommend handling your needs beforehand. Ellis Square has the nearest public restroom to the start of all tours. If you do need to go once tour starts, please let our tour guide know and they will direct you to the nearest welcoming establishment.
-
What are the age ranges for adult and child tickets?Adult tickets are for anyone age 13 or older. Child tickets are for anyone age 6 through 12. Children 5 years old or younger are free. We offer a 10% discount for seniors (age 65+).
